Born in Uganda in 1973 to Rwandese refugee Tutsi parents, Partrick Kalenzi began life in a world of segregation, violence, and poverty. Unable to return to the war-torn place of his family origin and plagued by discrimination in the place of his birth, he struggled to find safe ground. Kidnapping, military service, severe poverty . . . many African children face similar terrors. Tears Run Dry is the story of these hardships, but, more importantly, it is the story of overcoming them. I helped Patrick write his memoir, using a process of research, interviews, and editing of source materials.
